The Social Program

As usual, the conference will include a social program, letting the participants get to know the city, the surroundings, and each other. The program consists of the following events:

Welcome Reception at the House of Music

  • Date: Monday, August 21st, 2017 at 18.30 - 20.00

The City of Aalborg is delighted to invite all participants of MFCS 2017 to an official opening welcome reception. The reception will start at 18:30 with a guided tour of the building and continue with the welcome drink and speech after 19:00. The architectural masterpiece Musikkens Hus (The House of Music) will open its doors for the participants of MFCS 2017. It is within a walking distance from most of the hotels in Aalborg downtown and small refreshment and a welcome drink will be served.

The House of Music is situated by the newly established waterfront in Aalborg. Daily, the House of Music hosts concerts, artistic growth and simultaneously provide the perfect and unique educational and rehearsal setting for Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, the Jutland Academy of Music and Aalborg University. COOP HIMMELB(L)AU with Professor Wolf D. Prix as head of the project build the House of Music in high architectural quality. We are delighted to offer all participants and accompanying persons this very special welcome to the City of Aalborg. Appetizers and beverages will be served. We look forward to welcoming the participants to the reception in these incredible surroundings.

Excursion to Tingbæk Limestone Caves & Dinner in Denmark’s largest National Park

  • Date: Wednesday, August 23rd 2017 at 15.45 - 21.30
  • Address: Tingbæk Limestones Caves, Røde Møllevej 4, Thingbæk, 9520 Skørping Rold Storkro, Vælderskoven 13, 9520 Skørping

We invite all participants of MFCS 2017 to join us for this specially designed excursion to Denmark’s largest National Park. Shortly after finishing the day’s conference program, coaches will depart from the conference site and take us on a 20 minutes bus ride to Tingbæk Limestones caves. Here we will spend 30-45 minutes starting with a brief narrative of the limestone caves, followed by some time on your own. Tingbæk Limestone Caves are 8 degrees Celsius so remember to bring a warm sweater or jacket.

From there buses will take us to Rold Storkro, where we will continue to explore the area with a 1-hour guided tour in Denmark largest National Park Rebild Bakker. The tour will start and finish at Restaurant Rold Storkro, where we will enjoy a delightful 3-course dinner at 18.30 with wine/coffee/tea after the walking tour. Around 21.00 buses will take us back to the city center of Aalborg near the conference hotels.

If you have trouble walking, please feel free to contact Linda Riisgaard regarding this. She will let the guides know or suggest other alternatives meanwhile, and coordinate with the staff.
